The Kipper House, once a herring smokery, is now a simple seaside holiday cottage, owned and managed by Pippa and her husband, Alasdair Swan, who – along with Machair, the Flatcoat, and four pet hens – live next door at Seapoint. They are on hand to ensure that your holiday is as relaxing and comfortable as possible.
The Kipper House is decorated in a simple, seaside style and accommodation for up to six people is laid out on two floors.
Bedrooms: There are two comfortable double bedrooms with fantastic views of the sea. A third, cheerful twin bedroom has space for a travel cot if you bring one. The bathroom/WC has an extra deep, double ended tub with an electric shower over.
Open plan sitting room and snug: This is a large room with two comfortable sofas and gas/coal fire, LCD TV and DVD player. The sunny snug has a woodburning stove (great for driftwood fires!), desk, window seat (with lovely views to the sea) and double doors to the garden.
Dining area: This space comfortably seats 6 people at the table with space for the high chair. Additional stools and a clip on babyseat are also available to seat up to 8.
Kitchen: This sunny space, with a door to the garden, is fully equipped with plenty of storage space for your own food supplies. Appliances are built in and include oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher with a freestanding microwave.
Garden: The landscaped area to the rear of the house has wonderful views of the beach and the sea. There is a good sized table with benches and a barbecue.
Dogs: Dunbar is a great place for dog walking, with its beaches and woodlands, and up to two dogs are generally welcome. Pets must be kept off all furniture and we ask that dogs are not left alone in the house if there is any chance at all that they will bark or cause damage. Dunbar is a ‘pick up’ zone, even on the beaches and we are grateful to owners of lady dogs who ‘water’ after them to help keep The Kipper House lawn green.
Parking: Free on street parking is available to the front of the house.
